Description
The
Manufacturing Leadership Certificate Program (MLCP) has been developed through
a training partnership of five Ontario Community Colleges and the Canadian
Manufacturers and Exporters (CME). Global competition, the development of
advanced technologies and other economic challenges are rapidly changing the
way Canadian business and industry operate. Supervisors have felt the impact of
the changes most dramatically. Today's manufacturing supervisors must
demonstrate multifaceted leadership combined with a high level of technical
expertise. The Manufacturing Leadership Certificate Program is exactly what you
need if you are a supervisor, manager or have goals targeted in that direction.
Our History
Faced with the challenging economic conditions and technological changes of the
early 90s, manufacturers in Ontario's Golden Horseshoe partnered with their
local community colleges - Conestoga, Georgian, Mohawk, Niagara and Sheridan -
to identify training needs of the manufacturing sector and to develop
appropriate solutions. The result of all of these efforts was the Manufacturing
Leadership Certificate Program, coordinated centrally by the CME / 5 College
Training and Education Alliance.
From our early days in 1993 with
a grand total of 64 registrations, MLCP has grown. We now have 5 partner
colleges and, with the addition of Fleming College in January
2008, 8 Associate Colleges. These associates include Fanshawe, Humber,
Loyalist, Nova Scotia Community College, St. Clair, St. Lawrence, Sault. We now have approximately 11,800
registrations and 3048 participants! The numbers speak for themselves as
testimony of the credibility of the program and its effectiveness in assisting
manufacturers to achieve their organizational goals and objectives through
upgrading of their most critical resource - their employees.
